Artist Statement

Sheryl has always had a passion for the great outdoors.  Her acrylic paintings are an expression of her experiences.  Sheryl is a colorist painter. Her muse is landscape and images derived from nature.  Color is the main exploration of her work. 

Color is used as an expression rather than a realistic reproduction of her subject matter.  She explores various color combinations from piece to piece.  Another unique aspect of her work is the incorporation of pattern and design.  There is a rhythm of color and design that dance through her paintings as a common theme in her work. 

For Sheryl, being at the top of a mountain, sitting in the silence of the open plains, or viewing a sunset is an inspiration for her to express through her art, and to share with the viewer.
