About The Artist

As far back as Sheryl could remember she wanted to be an artist.  As a child, a brand-new box of Crayola crayons, and her coloring book was all she needed to keep herself content.

She started her formal education at the University of Northern Colorado. While there, she spent time in Italy studying art as part of her college education.  After college, she began a teaching career in art and spent over 30 years in the profession.  While teaching she continued her art education at Rhode Island School of Design where she earned her master’s degree.

Sheryl’s energy is now dedicated solely to her art.  Her choice of medium is acrylic paint on canvas.  Sheryl’s art is focused on a colorist palette, with a representational- abstract art style.  Her use of color and design is an example of this.  Her current subject matter is inspired by the beauty of mother nature.  Sheryl’s landscapes are often inspired by her home state of Colorado, although, she has been known to sneak across the Colorado border into New Mexico and Wyoming for inspiration as well.
